Dream BIG and Expect Results

If you're not following along with my craziness on Facebook, you may not know that our family has a HUGE announcement.  Not "huge" like a new baby is a huge announcement, but a pretty big one.

Our family of 7 has undertaken what most people would consider an impossible notion.  Many likely think we're out of our minds.  Some would love to do the same, but think they can't.

So what is it?

We have realized a long time dream and have moved to another country…Costa Rica!

Betcha weren't ready for that, were ya?

Purposeful Summer Vacations

Summer is just around the corner (wasn’t it just Christmas???) and while the gas prices are going sky high, many of us are still making plans to do *something fun* for the family.  But does it have to be to a highly commericialized area where the underlying message is “Buy More Stuff!  You NEED MORE STUFF!”?  Of course not!

I have been following one family’s blog, Give Every Day, who sold everything and is traveling around the US in an RV and finding ways to GIVE, even in small ways, every day.  I really LOVE the idea of traveling with a purpose.

Why Last Week’s Govt Shutdown Was Your Wake Up Call

Last week, all the social sites were a-buzz with people talking about the impending US government shutdown.  The very short version of what happened (based on what I know) is that politicians in both parties were acting like my 2 youngest wanting to play with the same toy and not wanting to give in so the other can play.  They finally came to an agreement, but not before giving a BUNCH of people a serious scare.

Starting to homeschool…where to begin?

I was very humbled today to get a Facebook message from my husband’s cousin asking me about what I use to homeschool our kiddos because she was considering homeschooling hers.  Humbled because I often feel so inadequate to educate these 5 precious blessings God has given us and knowing that I so often fall very short of the expectations I set out with at the beginning of the school year.

Since I have realized that some of you may be considering homeschooling or have children in school and are considering pulling them out, I thought it might be helpful to post some of what I wrote to her.

Building Homemaking Skills

I often laugh at some of the silly stuff homeschoolers come up with.  Courses on “home making” and baking and cooking and tending to children.  If you are the creator of one of such courses, I really do not mean to offend.  I just honestly don’t see the need for such things.
