Merry Christmas!

This photo was taken on the steps of our rental house on a recent trip to Granada, Nicaragua. From our family to yours, we wish you a VERY Merry Christmas and a Happy 2012!

Can you believe that a new year is only a week away?

This time last year, our family had NO idea we'd be where we are, both physically and spiritually.

God has given us so many experiences to make us grow this year, not in faith (because our faith is from Him and is constant), but in our knowledge and TRUST in Him.

If I can encourage you in just one thing, it would be to prayerfully consider those deep desires the Lord has put on your heart and not allow FEAR to decide whether or not you take a step toward those desires.

Maybe it's selling all your stuff and moving overseas like we did.

Maybe it's taking the leap and pulling your children out of school to homeschool.

Maybe it's taking a course on how to start your own business.

Fear is a powerful motivator, but terrible master.  Fear, I believe, is a tool used by the enemy to keep us stagnant, keep our trust in God small and keep us in panic mode so we can't see what God wants us to do.

There have been times this year, especially leading up to this move, where I was literally paralyzed by fear.  There were days that I had to force myself to take another step.  Times when I felt like I couldn't even pray because fear was overtaking me.

But I can tell you now, standing on the other side of those fears, that those thoughts were not from God.  "The Lord is with me.  I will not be afraid."  Psalm 118:6 says.

Cling to that as you strive toward those desires God has put in your heart.  Make 2012 a year where you move forward, in faith.
